What is texture paint?

Texture paint is a decorative wall finish that adds surface pattern, depth or tonal movement. Lime-based decorative plaster is one family within that wider category; application techniques and ingredients differ between products.

Which MacoAvell finish should I compare?

  • Vellplas: a matte Marmorino direction with fine, cloudy movement.
  • Vellma: polished Marmorino for a marble-inspired appearance.
  • Vellcco: a more pronounced stucco or stone-inspired texture.
  • Vellwax Clear and Metallic: final treatments for compatible decorative bases.
  • StoneMix: check the current product information for the proposed stone-inspired system.

Can it go over an existing painted wall?

The wall must be assessed first. Remove loose material, correct defects and establish the compatible preparation or primer. A decorative layer cannot remedy a leak or active movement.

Is it waterproof or suitable for a shower?

Do not treat decorative plaster or a wax finish as a waterproofing system. Direct shower exposure is not covered by this general guide. Obtain written suitability for the exact location, substrate and complete system.

Does lime prevent mould or guarantee a low-VOC finish?

A lime-based description alone does not establish tested mould resistance, VOC content or indoor-air certification. Ask for the relevant product documents and address moisture sources and ventilation separately.

How is texture paint applied?

Most of the finishes discussed here are applied by hand with tools such as a trowel. Coat sequence, thickness, drying intervals, polishing and final treatment depend on the selected system. Approve a sample before work begins.

Can I apply it myself?

A small practice panel helps you judge the tools and technique. Ask MacoAvell about current training and support. Larger walls, pronounced gloss and complicated junctions benefit from an experienced applicator.

What does it cost and how long does it last?

Request a quotation based on actual wall dimensions, access, preparation and the selected finish. There is no universal service-life or warranty figure for all sites; obtain the written terms for your project.

How should I maintain it?

Use the cleaning method advised for the exact finish and protective treatment. Test gently in an inconspicuous area. Avoid abrasive scrubbing or assuming that every waxed surface can be soaked.

What should I send for advice?

Provide room and wall photographs, approximate dimensions, substrate information, location, preferred finish and the intended work period. Ask for a sample, current technical instructions and an itemised scope.
