Watch the Vellcco application video
MacoAvell’s Vellcco – Full Guide Application video is a short introduction to the finish. Published on 28 August 2020, its material list identifies Vellcco SC02 and Cera Wax – Clear. Use that reference when discussing the demonstrated finish with our team.
The notes below explain project preparation and the published product guidance; they are not a timed transcript of the video.
What is Vellcco?
Vellcco Decorative Stucco is a ready-mixed decorative plaster for textured, stone-inspired walls. Its appearance depends on the application technique as well as the colour. A restrained surface and a more pronounced relief can create very different impressions in the same room.
For homeowners, the useful starting point is the result you want to live with. For designers and applicators, it is a shared sample that records that result. Describe the texture, direction and sheen alongside the product name.
Before application: agree the complete finish
Bring the video reference, wall dimensions and photographs of the existing surface to your enquiry. Identify the wall’s location, the materials beside it and the planned lighting. A finish behind a reception desk may need a different visual balance from a bedroom wall.
Ask for a sample that includes the intended colour, texture and finishing treatment. Review it close up and from normal viewing distance. Keep the approved sample on site so the client and applicator have the same reference throughout the work.
The video is an application reference; use the current approved technical instructions for the selected system. Confirm today’s colour options rather than treating the SC02 reference in the 2020 video as a current colour chart.
1. Prepare the wall and materials
Begin with a clean, dry and stable surface. Remove loose coatings, repair defects and confirm the appropriate primer. Resolve dampness and active cracking before decorative work. Stir the ready-mixed Vellcco before application.
Protect adjoining finishes and agree the stopping points around corners, sockets, skirtings and built-in furniture. Have the selected tools and enough material ready for the planned area. Organising these details first gives the applicator room to concentrate on the finish.
2. Establish an even base
MacoAvell’s published application overview describes an even base coat applied with a flexible steel trowel, followed by thorough drying before the next coat. Confirm the required coating build against the current method for your selected effect.
Check the prepared area before progressing. The base should support the intended decorative treatment; adding texture later should not become a substitute for correcting an unsuitable background.
3. Develop and refine the texture
Apply the next coat using the agreed technique and refine it at the appropriate workable stage. The published Vellcco overview includes semi-dry burnishing. Match the treatment to the approved effect rather than assuming every Vellcco finish requires an identical surface pattern.
On the trial area, compare the distribution of marks, the strength of the relief and the treatment of edges. Check under the proposed room lighting. Record what was accepted so a change of applicator or work session does not introduce a different visual direction.
4. Allow drying, then complete the finishing treatment
Follow the current drying and recoating instructions before applying the specified compatible finish. An edited demonstration does not establish the waiting time needed on your wall.
The video lists clear Cera Wax. Vellwax Cera Clear Wax is a finishing option for compatible decorative plaster. Its guidance describes application with a suitable cloth, sponge or trowel, removal of excess and buffing to develop clarity and sheen.
Approve a waxed sample before treating the full wall: clear wax can alter the visual depth and reflection of the plaster. It provides the water resistance described in the product information, but does not replace a waterproofing system.
Review the finished wall as part of the room
Inspect the result with the agreed lighting and surrounding materials in place. Compare it with the approved sample, including corners and returns. Keep the finish reference and care instructions with the project records.
For another Vellcco design direction, explore our Vellcco MA01 pitted-effect article. That project is a separate finish reference, not the SC02 application shown in this video.
Frequently asked questions
Which products are listed in this video?
The video description names Vellcco SC02 and Cera Wax – Clear. Share the video with MacoAvell when asking about the corresponding finish, current materials and application method.
Can I choose the colour from the video?
Use it to communicate a direction. Lighting, camera exposure and screens affect colour, so approve a physical sample for the actual project.
How long should I wait before waxing?
Follow the current instructions for the installed Vellcco system and confirm that the plaster is ready for the specified wax. Do not use the video’s running time as a drying schedule.
Can I learn the technique before starting a full wall?
Practise on a sample panel and ask MacoAvell about application guidance or training. A trial lets you discuss the result before committing to the main wall.
